People for People Foundation

My name is Bernadette Blackstock and I am the a grassroots 501c3 organization with the mission of helping normally self-sufficient people that fall through the cracks of governmental assistance and don’t know where to turn.
Since 2003 we have helped over 10,000 people through small grants and advocating on their behalf with other help providers.
We are funded through donations, fund raisers, businesses and private foundations and receive no government funding.
We are also involved with veterans starting with the “Wreaths of Remembrance” program at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery where we have laid over 6,000 holiday wreaths since 2010. People for People also hosts an annual Free Vets Picnic in Gloucester County and have on staff three volunteer Veteran Service Officers (VSOs) that work closely with veterans and their families with their VA benefits as well as with their normal family needs. People for People is a charter member of the Gloucester County Vets Helping Vets program.
In 2011 with the financial support of the Pascale Sykes Foundation People for People became the Lead Agency over 6 other non-profits to form the Heart of Gloucester County collaboration whose mission is to provide support and training to help put families onto a “New Life Direction.”

People for People Foundation is a private, nonprofit foundation that helps normally self sufficient individuals and families that fall on hard times through no fault of their own and need one time help. People for People may provide monetary and advocacy assistance to those in need who may not know where to turn to for help or who may not readily qualify for traditional assistance from the government or large charities.

There are two programs under People for People. The first is our “Direct Grant Program.” This program may provide small monetary grants for the normally self sufficient and seniors and the disabled living on fixed incomes who face a family crisis or emergency and need one time assistance with their bills and other expenses. No monies are ever paid directly to those seeking help. People for People only pays funds to the debtor or service provider.

The second program is our “Hands Across the County Program.” This program provides advocacy assistance to those that may face multiple problems, or need help beyond the financial means of the People for People Direct Grant Program, that may lack the ability or means to successfully navigate the help provider network on their own.
